Happy New Year Health Nuts!
I hope you all had wonderful vacations. I did, and it is hard to get back into the swing of things. One of my goals this new year is to try and be better at communicating with you all about assignments and grades.
I now have a folder for each of you into which all of your emails will go. You all should have recieved at least one email regarding assignments, grades and any missing work. If you did not, please email me and let me know. It is important that assignments get completed before the next classes it allows me to better plan the ongoing classes and assignments. If you have any missing work, please get it in to me by the end of the week.
1. Today I would like you to go on to brainpop and watch the short movie on smoking. This is just an introduction. http://www.brainpop.com/health/personalhealth/smoking/
2. After watching the movie, please take the quiz and see how you do.
3. I would then like you to go on to the FYI section after the movie and read and print out or copy and paste the information for you to access at a later date.
4. Then, make a t chart or two lists that show short term effects of smoking and long term effects of smoking.
5. Commericals for cigarettes are not allowed on television. Why do you think this is? Is this fair? What is your opinion on this?
6. Where do we see commercials for smoking? Over the next few days, keep your eye out and collect at least one ad for cigarettes and bring it in to class for Thursday.
So, let me summarize what you should be sending me........
your chart/lists of short and long term effects of smoking, and your thoughts on cigarette advertising. ( please write more than a sentence.....I am looking for a short essay type answer)
If you have time, do a little research on second-hand smoke....what is this? What effect can it have? Record your discoveries for next class.......
Happy Investigating!
